About a year ago I broke into the world of 3D printing on an industrial level, leveraging years of experience through trial and error and taking my engineering knowledge and applying it to found Dayton Additive Manufacturing LLC. I moved from my traditional knowledge of standard printers like the replicator and other basic gantry type printers and landed on this powerhouse, the Bambu Labs X1-Carbon! Its combination of speed, precision, and advanced features, in particular the AMS system that you can link together, makes it an invaluable tool for any professional who wants to show true cost savings for their company or in my case build a company around the industry of Additive Manufacturing.

For newbies and seasoned makers alike, this is where it’s at! I can’t begin to tell you how many “early day” prints I screwed up because of my printers being out of “calibration”, now I hit print and forget it until I get the notification that the print is done!
Let’s talk about the Automatic Material System (AMS)! If you want to make prints that stand out here is the solution! The AMS allows for seamless multi-material printing, making it easy to switch between different filaments without manual intervention. This is particularly useful for complex projects that require multiple materials. Take those pellets and ensure to recycle them!
Absolutely required for consistency is the Enclosed Build Volume!
The enclosed build volume with a tempered glass enclosure helps maintain a stable printing environment, reducing the risk of print failures due to external factors like air conditioning. Believe me when I tell you that I have had more prints shrink and warp due to being too close to the air conditioner than I’d like to admit to. As an engineer I kept trying to figure out what was going on until I found that the air was blowing directly onto my parts causing the ABS to warp and pop right off the build plate or be so banana like that it was a wasted clump of plastic. This enclosure is something that you just don’t get on hobby machines and even some “industrial” work horses. And let’s not leave out the Bambu Handy mobile app. This app right on my phone lets me remote in and monitor and control any of my X1-Cs, providing flexibility and convenience in managing print jobs even when I’m away from the printers. What this means is that when a customer has an emergency job they need done overnight, we get on it right away!
