How do I start 3D printing myself?
Like so many in this industry, I am not one to guard technology. I am a firm believer that 3D printing is for everyone, and to level with you I would rather have strong employees who 3D print on their own so that they can bring to work the skills that they learn through trial and error.
As we begin to close out the year there are a couple of things that I want to bring to you, starting with how to get started in 3D Printing.
in 2024 according to Tech Radar, the "best" 3D printer can vary depending on your specific needs and preferences and most importantly price range. However, based on recent reviews and hands-on testing, here are some top picks for 2024 including my own preferences.
Best Overall: Bambu Lab P1P
The Bambu Lab P1P is praised for its lightning-fast print speeds and outstanding quality. It's an excellent all-rounder that offers good accuracy and speeds, making it a top choice for most users.
Best Without a Budget: Bambu Lab X1C
With its strong and steady frame, the paired AMS, the Bambu Labs X1C is considered one of the best 3D printers for several reasons and I think it is important to share. I am partial to these though, so my opinion may be a little skewed.

Best Budget Option: Creality Ender-3 V3 SE
For those looking for an affordable option, the Creality Ender-3 V3 SE is a great choice. It's simple to get started with and easy to use, offering good value for money. They are about $100 bucks, and although this is a great starting price point, they do need quite a few upgrades to get you to the point of click and print. These are a GREAT option for those who really want to learn the ins and outs of 3D printing, just make sure you check your adjustments regularly.
Best for Beginners: Anycubic Kobra 3 Combo
If you're just starting out, the Anycubic Kobra 3 Combo is a fantastic multi-filament printer that's fast, affordable, and versatile. Anycubic really knocked my socks off with this one. Strong sturdy frame, and simple, this is the one I would buy for my littles to get them started having fun with 3D printing. It has an open body so you can see the print as it is growing layer by layer, and the combo lets you mix and match colors! That seems to be the theme of the year!
Best for Education: Creality K1C
The Creality K1C is tailor-made for educational use, featuring a sturdy build and an AI camera for enhanced functionality. I can’t say much on this, however I can speak to Creality’s quality on other products, they have been great!!!
Best for Business: Original Prusa MK4
The Original Prusa MK4 sets the benchmark for business use, offering high-quality prints and prototyping capabilities. Prusa has long been in the game of 3D printing and there’s a reason, these things are bullet proof, ok maybe not really but they are still tough little machines. They just work and the work horse of many businesses in today’s environment.
Best for Precision: AnkerMake M5C
The AnkerMake M5C delivers high-quality prints with impressive accuracy and is easy to use. I have not yet had the pleasure of working with an AnkerMake but from all the research I have done on them they are dead accurate!
Best for Engineering: TriLab AzteQ Industrial
For engineering purposes, the TriLab AzteQ Industrial excels with its robust construction, precision, and extra features, and all I can say is just WoW… I have seen these in action, and they were absolutely mesmerizing to watch!
Now for my thoughts. Each of these printers has its own strengths and weaknesses, so the best one for you will depend on your specific requirements, whether it's speed, budget, ease of use, or precision. My recommendation, just get started. Trial and error will both frustrate you and cause you to have overwhelming joy after your first successful print.
